The Story of the Christmas Stockings

With Evelyn Lucille's birth in September, I knew (really knew!) that I would have to dig go through the scraps from the stockings made in 2009 in order to fashion one for our newest addition.  Well, that was a relatively simple undertaking since every scrap from the collection with the pattern I'd made had been placed in a one gallon zippie bag and stored in the box of what "may be needed in the future."

I discovered everything MOST ESPECIALLY the little note card with instructions for the embroidery including the name of the font used for the girls' stockings and the exact color of the thread AS WELL AS the name and phone number of the embroiderer who did the work!

DILEMMA: The folks who did the embroidery were out of business, the color of the thread was discontinued AND no other embroiderer in town had that font!!

PROBLEM: My rather "picky" daughter would not have a stocking done for Evelyn that wasn't EXACTLY like hers and Avery's.

SOLUTION: Have three stocking cuffs embroidered; replace the ones for Mommy and Avery on the already made stockings and finish the new stocking for Evelyn with her cuff.

PROBLEM: It cost a fortune!  But since I didn't have to pay for it AND the stockings were finished, I was not in the least bit upset with the way they turned out!

as an added bonus, I even decorated the mantle one more year!!  The lengths to which I will go for my Darlings!!  Love 'em from here to the moon and back and then, all the way out to the stars!

Darling Miss Evelyn Lucille Ryan was born on September 23, 1022 at 6:32 in the evening and weighed 7lbs 13ozs!!!

Mommy'd had to deal with gestational diabetes throughout the last months of pregnancy.

a phone call

Anne and Tim just phoned @ 5:06 pm to let me know that they are expecting a baby!! I can't tell anyone but I figure I ought to note the date and time on my blog for future reference!!
