The month had already been busier than most, the trip to Louisville for the Kentucky Derby, Anne coming down to Lafayette for Mother's Day and it wouldn't stop there! Chrissy Compere who'd been unable to make it to Baltimore for Anne's 29th Birthday Spectacular in January was coming to Baltimore for a long weekend visit with Anne.
I will never forget the phone call I rec'd from Anne! Sunday morning . . . I was sworn to secrecy . . . she was pregnant!! Her problem was that she wanted to tell Tim when they were alone and with Chrissy spending the weekend with them, that would be difficult!! The secret was safe with me!
By Father's Day, Tim (and the grandfather's-to-be) found out!

Abi was the tool for telling Tim that he was about to be a Dad!
Tim and Anne had already planned a trip to Miami and there was no reason to change plans. In hindsight, I'm thinking that was the last hurrah for Anne!! But, there would be a baby Ryan in the future and that was an answer to my prayer! I'd already offered to go to Baltimore to help out before and after my grandchild's birth. I had enough leave accrued so I could be up there for as long as six weeks! I was thrilled about everything!
By the time she had had her first doctor's appointment, I received a phone call from her (on speakerphone with Tim). Anne, in a very controlled voice, announced that they were having twins. My response, "Holy sh*t Nan Nan!" I was otherwise speechless!
The email they sent out later that day to extended family:
There was one little surprise…
Rather than tell you, I’ll just show you our sonogram picture and let you figure it out for yourself. Scroll Down.
By the first of August, this is the email she sent out to EVERYONE!
KNOCK KNOCK
WHO’S THERE?
BABY RYAN
BABY RYAN WHO?
BABY RYAN TIMES TWO!!!!!!
We have been waiting to tell everyone our very exciting news! For those of you that have known we really appreciate all of your support and prayers. The babies are doing great!!! We got to hear the heart beats yesterday for the first time. It was very exciting. The ultrasound tech has named the babies: BABY A and BABY B.
This is what Tim had to say about the sonogram: “Baby A seemed like a camera hog and was trying to take command of the situation. Remind you guys of anyone? Baby B was much more reserved, collected and was clearly the quiet voice of reason in the relationship. That one takes after me.” (SPECIAL NOTE ADDED TODAY: Tim definitely had a handle on the twins from his first glimpse of them!!)
The babies are due February 16 and 17th (I am hoping they come on the same day!!!) Most twins are born a little early so if we make it to Mid-January I will be very happy!!!
We also just put our house on the market because we are moving to
We are very much looking forward to seeing everyone over the fall at some LSU games!!
Anne and Tim did move to Lafayette. Anne would spend the remainder of her pregnancy on bed rest but was a real trooper about it all. Tim rounded up the troops and packed and moved to storage in Lafayette. By Christmas, they'd bought a house. Then, the birth of my darlings, Avery Kathryn and Riggs Trey. Six weeks after their birth they were moved into their home.
Besides Mother's Day, I get to celebrate Grandparents Day on the first Sunday after Labor Day!!
Its hard to imagine that this is my daughter's second Mother's Day . . . but it is! Happy Mother's Day to Anne!!
My Mother's Day prayer has been answered twice over!! What a blessing!
