Tahoe will NEVER be the same!!
My darlings arrived in Tahoe very late on Saturday. And, followed by a couple of days adjusting to their new schedule AND unpacking two weeks worth of gear, Mommie dressed darling Avery for today's adventure! Toooooo cute!!

a birthday celebration for Dearie!!
In advance of my birthday, Clair and J hosted an intimate little family birthday dinner for me at their home. Showing off the new dining room table and chairs, they served the most outstandingly fantabulous birthday dinner! Buddy was there along with Anne and Tim AND MY DARLINGS!! Many snaps of the camera but it was Mommie's camera so I don't have an image to post! But, everything about my early birthday celebration was wonderful . . . but, this blog isn't about me!
When I arrived, Daddy was holding fussy Riggs and Taunte Clair was doing her best to entertain antsy Avery in her bucket (Carrier!). It was just a little after 5 and clearly, my darlings do not enjoy having their schedules altered. It was THEIR dinner time! I took Riggs from his daddy and that sweet thing settled down immedately! Daddy went off to prepare dinner. Mommie was still getting her hair cut. With meals prepared, Daddy and Taunte Clair took over Riggs and my little darling, Avery, would have no one but Dearie feed her!! (Clair was taking too long to get the food into Avery's mouth 'cause she was busy wiping excess food from Avery's face between spoonfuls!!) Fifteen minutes later, two happy, full-bellied babies were ready to entertain! Avery had perfected the "raspberry" and Riggs has done likewise with his left-footed dance in the Johnny Jump.
Uncle Buddy continued to "observe" he entire process and commented, "when the twins are able to walk and use the pottie, I'll take 'em every weekend! We can go to the mall all day on Saturdays (now imagine, he's offering to give up Saturday golf for this!)." Confused, I asked him what the draw was . . . duh, "kids are chic magnets!"
Once everyone took their place at the dinner table, (Avery in her bucket and Riggs in his Johnny Jump again) conversation was light, lively and most entertaining. Mommie getting Uncle J's recipe for the marinara sauce and sharing some of her newest culinary creations, Taunte Clair telling all that they ground the brisket themselves to make the meatballs, Daddy and Uncle J discussing the variances between real estate legalese here in Louisiana compared with the rest of the world . . . all the while, enjoying every tidbit on our plates!!
Avery began fussing. Mommie scooped her up from her bucket so that she could sit in Mommie's lap. She immediately began trying to get her hands on the few pieces of spaghetti in the bowl. Mommie, offered her a two inch piece of the pasta and Avery just slurped it up like she'd been eating spaghetti her entire life!! I couldn't believe it!! She must have had six more pieces and with each one, she would perse her lips and suck the spaghetti in! So where did the Italian come from? Is that on Daddy's side of the family???

With the table cleared, we remained there . . . reminded me of dinners at my grandmother's when I was much younger, big people sitting around the table with three or four conversations going on at once and children in the room but busy with their own entertainment! Then, it happened!
Then, it was cake and baumbies. We had the cake and the babies had their baumbies. With totally filled bellies, the darlings tried to stay awake. Mommie cleaned them up and dressed them in their jammies. Avery didn't make it, she was asleep in no time. Riggs wasn't sure that he could sleep unless he was tucked in his bed so he fussed. Mommie and Daddy started loading the car with the portable house of supplies they'd brought and in no time at all, a sudden silence. The darlings were gone . . . on their way home for a full night's sleep.
The rest of us visited a little more and then, Buddy and I left. When I got home, I realized I hadn't offered to help clean up. I felt bad about that but soon changed my thoughts to those of sleep. It had been a very long day that extended until much later than normal. The birthday dinner had been so pleasant. Imagine, an evening with my babies AND my darlings. Does it get any better than that? I don't think so!!

Errands and Speed Shopping
Late yesterday afternoon I stopped by to steal a quick smooch from my darlings and see if I couldn't be of a little help at dinner time. Well, Mommie, with list in hand, asked if I would run errands with her so that Avery and Riggs could remain in the car (I think this is the base for speed shopping!). What could a Dearie say? Of course, I can sit in the car while you run in and out . . . I will do just about anything to spend time with my darlings!!
Loaded up, we were ready to tackle the list!! First, pick up coffee mug left at nail salon (show off babies), then to bank, then to Big Lots, then to Dillards where the darlings were loaded into the Snap-n-Go for a quick run through the store to get Aunt Monique's gift for the lingerie shower coming up next week!! Everyone we passed commented on how cute my darlings were and they both seemed to LOVE THE ATTENTION 'cause they would tilt baumbies to the side of their mouths so that their smiles were visible!! It was about this time that Avery decided a nap would be in order and, awake in one moment and sound asleep in the next, she seemed as comfortble sleeping as she would at home!!
Mommie decided that it would be a good thing to run over to JC Penney's . . . Dearie drove the car to that parking lot while Mommie pushed that 8 foot stroller over there. GUESS WHO WE MET UP WITH?? Meka!! Riggs was delighted!! While all of us were sorting through the racks in search of the 12 month clothes, Riggs became just a little out of sorts . . . i.e., no one was paying attention to him. He always settles down when he hears Itsy Bitsy Spider . . . so there, in the baby clothing department of JC Penney's, three adults were singing Itsy Bitsy Spider while Meka was doing the hand motions and Riggs just smiled and coohed!! He's figured out exactly what it takes to get what he wants!! Couldn't find 12 month Carter's footed jammies but did manage to find 9 month size and scooped up a couple pair per baby!!
On the way home, a quick call to Daddy to get his order for Chick-fil-A (dinner) and another 10 minutes, we were home!! Mommie didn't squeeze the run to TARGET in but we managed to do everything else in about an hour and a half!! Babies were good, Mommie got most of the list done and Dearie had a grand time with her darlings!!
What? No pictures? Yea, we didn't waste time primping the babies for the outing! This was just errands and speed shopping with the darlings, Dearie's Darlings!

Happy Babies . . . happy, happy, happy!!
This afternoon when I left the office, I called Mommie to see if she could use a little help with my darlings . . . as always, extra hands are always welcome, especially when she's trying to get things ready for the trip out to Tahoe for Aunt Monique's wedding! When I arrived, Riggs was busy in his Johnny Jump and Avery was getting a little nap in before dinner while Mommie was catching up on the seemingly endless rounds of laundry.
Riggs is happy to jump around, smiling that precious little smile of his! Abigail has taken to "baby sitting" Riggs while he jumps now. She sits patiently by his side moving her head in pace with the Jumper!
Following the jump session, Riggs was tuckered out and decided to take his nap before dinner and that was just about the time that Avery decided to wake from her nap! She was tickled to show Dearie her newest trick:
Following the play and a diaper change, Avery was tickled to have Dearie feed her dinner. And, not long after she finished, it was Riggs' turn . . . Dearie started feeding him and Mommie finished feeding him. One little note, Riggs is just fine being held or not . . . that is, until I pick up Avery! Then, he seems to be a little jealous that he's not getting attention. I think he's catching on to the devise Avery created all those months ago!! He wants just as much attenion as she gets! I'll see to it that he gets all the attention I can give him!!

Pretty in pink . . .
The weekend was a filled with parties and entertainment, Riggs and Avery going to a birthday party on Saturday morning, Mommie and Daddy deciding at the last minute to go to the movies on Saturday evening to see Julie & Julia and on Sunday, Mommie to a baby shower. Within the hour before leaving for the baby shower, Mommie decided she would bring Avery Kathryn with her. Dearie pressed her little pink and white seersucker dress, found a beautiful piece of gros grain ribbon for a belt and dressed the little darling for her afternoon soirée! Carrier filled with items of entertainment, baumbie strapped to the bib and simply dressed to the nines:

The bib says it all, "little lady." That she was!

Reports following the shower were glowing! Avery Kathryn was a delight at the shower AND remarkably, didn't spittie-up once (though Mommie was prepared with at least six replacement bibs!!) Such a darling, Dearies Darling!!

Big School from the ground up!
With area schools scheduled to open next week and, Auntie (Riggs' Godmother) getting a little help from Mommie to get her kindergarten classroom at Fatima in order, the darlings (with the help of Dearie during her lunch break) had their own fun! On the freshly steamed play rug, Avery and Riggs enjoyed their playtime. I do want to mention that Serena (Auntie) is one brave l'il teacher, knowing how Avery has no problem spewing whatever bubbles up!!

Riggs is always interested in demonstrating his toe-touching abilities! Like a little rolly-polly bug, he curls up, rolls around and then as soon as he thinks he's got your attention . . . he gives one of his, now quite famous, smiles!

Avery, on the other hand, wants to make certain everyone notices how tall she is! This will be very important later in life when she's into wearing jeans.
Riggs give his best shot at getting Avery's attention, even if it means pulling her to him!! The one thing I've noticed is this, as active as the darlings are, having the camera in their face doesn't change their agendas at all!!
Now really, how many words would been required to express the darlings' delights of today?? I don't imagine my vocabulary is varied and rich enough to describe how precious my darlings are in everything they do!!

Monday was Riggs' well baby check up
I had the opportunity to tend Avery Kathryn while Mommie and Daddy took Riggs in for his well baby check up. Avery was in a lively mood and we read, played and sang until it was time for dinner. Ask anyone who has ever fed Avery, dinner is not play time, it is serious business!! After dinner, we sat outside on the glider--singing more songs, watching the water in the fountain and enjoying the early evening. When Mommie and Daddy returned, that precious little girl (who has clearly wrapped her Daddy around her little pinkie!) managed to convey her interest in being in Daddy's arms immediately!
Riggs had dinner and again, it was spectacular. Usually a little fussy about eating from the spoon, that was not the case this time! At one point I heard Mommie asking the little boy in the high chair, "where's Riggs?" His sweet little smile took over and with a face covered in cereal, bananas and sweet potatoes, he looked up at his Mommie. Other than that, he was focused on finishing everything in his bowl . . . and did! Yeah Riggs!!
Riggs and Avery are both about even on everything from height and weight to head circumference! But you know, the percentiles sure look different!!!
Here are Avery's stats from last week:
Weight: 17 lbs 6 oz - 70th percentile
Height: 25¾ inches – 30th percentile
Head: 17 1/2 inches – 89th percentile
Here are Riggs' stats from yesterday:
Weight: 17 lbs 7 oz - 30th percentile
Height: 26 inches – 15th percentile
Head: 17 1/4 inches – 30th percentile

Austin Vacation - Bailey, Compere and Ryan Families
Last Wednesday, Mommie loaded Avery and Riggs up for another little adventure, one that included Auntie (Serena is Riggs' Godmother) and her precious l'il girls, Miia and Emma! They were off to spend a few days with Chrissy (Aunt Paris, the Paris Hilton of Austin)! Judging from the digisnaps that showed up on Mommie's FaceBook album, it is clear to Dearie that everyone had this notion that children learn by example and this lesson was all about how to have fun!

I think the darlings, aside from trying to take everything in, are trying to tell Mommie that they want a turn at this kind of fun!

Aunt Paris can slide, relaxed;

Auntie can slide, wildly;

Mommie can slide, fearlessly;

Miia and Emma can slide, joyfully;

We know that one day soon, we will get our turn!! In the meantime, it is just so much fun being with Mommie and her friends.
